Environmental Responsibility
Environmental sustainability is evident in the design and development of The MAC's Villages and flows right through to everyday operations, to meet or exceed industry Standards. The MAC takes an active role in minimising its environmental impact by implementing a number of sustainable initiatives to conserve water and power, reduce pollution, fuel, waste and carbon emissions.
Some of these initiatives include:
Water recycling and conservation
Low-flow shower heads and dual-flush toilet systems operate with recycled water in all Village cabins.
Power saving
Quantum titan commercial solar systems are used for water heating at the Villages, saving up to 75% of power compared to standard systems. Energy-efficient lights and appliances are used in cabin construction. All accommodation cabins are installed with insulated walls, ceiling, under-floor insulation and laminated glass windows with UV light reflective foil.
Fuel and pollution minimisation
Electric powered carts are used by housekeepers around the Villages, saving fuel and reducing carbon emissions.
Waste minimisation
On-site sewerage treatment plants are present at some of our Villages and are an important part of The MAC’s comprehensive Waste Management Plan.
Reducing carbon emissions
Native trees and vegetation feature strongly within our landscaping, helping to remove carbon gasses from the atmosphere and encourage natural wildlife to the area.
