Recent Sponsorship Activities
In the past year The MAC has made significant sponsorship and donation contributions, as well as donations of food and services-in-kind. The MAC buys all of its meat, fresh fruit and vegetables from local suppliers to encourage local sustainable development. Specific community activities included:
ROAD ACCIDENT ACTION GROUP
The MAC has partnered with the Road Accident Action Group (RAAG) to assist the coordintion of community road safety initiatives that are aimed at reducing road fatalities in the Mackay and Whitsundays regions.
As major sponsor of RAAG The MAC will help contribute to the increased safety of the local community, families and our employees.
RAAG is a group of individuals from state government, industry, community, and local government who by taking a holistic approach across the community focus on implementing programs that help reduce incidents of road trauma.
SIR RODEN CUTLER CHARITIES
The MAC partnered with the Sir Roden Cutler Charity to purchase a wheel chair-accessible vehicle.
The Roden Cutler Charity strongly believes that those with disabilities and their carers are entitled to enjoy the same degree of dignity, mobility and independence as the general community. The ‘CarerCar’ purchased by The MAC is making this dream a reality.
In 2010, The MAC-sponsored CarerCar will be travelling around Australia to promote this product’s ability to assist the seriously ill, elderly or disabled with transportation in local communities.
LLOYD MCDERMOTT RUGBY DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The MAC is a Gold Sponsor of the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team (LMRDT). The LMRDT is committed to promoting rugby union for young aboriginal men and women to encourage increased participation. The programme aims to develop leadership, team spirit, courage, sportsmanship and friendship. For the past six years The MAC has assisted the LMRDT through support of their fundraising Dinner, Mackay Carnival and National Tour.
In October 2009 The MAC assisted both the Sir Roden Cutler Charities and Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team to raise funds by supporting their 'Grand Slam' lunch fundraiser. Over $20 000 was raised for these organisations.
SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOLS
The MAC is dedicated to supporting and strengthening the schools of the communities in which we operate. The MAC's support extends to donating funds, food and labour for many of the schools events and activities to help them develop and grow.
Coppabella Primary School
The MAC recently supported the Coppabella Primary School with their regional Brigalow Athletics Carnival. The MAC provided lunch and drinks for the 250 children participating in the Carnival.
Coppabella Cubs Playgroup
The MAC’s Building Services division recently assisted the Coppabella Cubs Playgroup to re-design and build their play equipment (including cubby house, swings and sandpit) to give children in the playgroup a safe area for play.
Kambalda Primary School
A computer was donated to the Kambalda Primary School to assist the education of children with Special Needs.
COMMUNITY SPORT & EVENTS
Races
The MAC is a proud sponsor of the Bowen Basin Winter Carnival Racing, as a Gold Sponsor for the Moranbah BMA Race Day and Silver Sponsor for the Middlemount Cup Race Day.
Rodeos
The MAC is an annual sponsor of the Moranbah and Nebo Rodeos and Nebo Campdraft.
Sport
The MAC supports local sports teams. In the past The MAC has provided uniforms, water bottles and cash donations to assist in the development of these clubs.
Equipment
Purchase of medical equipment e.g. an electronically-operated bed for Andamooka Community Health Services.
Community Christmas Fairs
The MAC is proud to support its local communities with their festive celebrations. Over the past few years The MAC has significantly contributed to the Anglo Coal Middlemount Christmas Party, the local Nebo Christmas Fair, Moranbah Christmas Party and provided an in-kind donation to the Moranbah police for their annual Santa run.
Road Safe September
The MAC annually supports the Nebo Community Development Group's Road Safe Rest Stop Campaign. The campaign promotes awareness of rest breaks for drivers on the Peak Downs Highway. In 2008, after the campaign there were no accidents on the Peak Downs Highway from September to February.

Pro-Am
The MAC is an annual sponsor of BMA’s Pro-Am. Pro-Am is an annual 3 day professional golf tournament that brings the Dysart Community together. Providing accommodation and monetary donations the annual Pro-Am is a great day out for all!
Big Birthday Bash 09
The MAC supported the 'Big Birthday Bash' celebrations of the Norwich Park Mine 30 & Saraji Mine 35 year anniversaries with running a barbeque food stall at the all day event. The MAC raised close to $2000 dollars that went towards to total days proceeds donated to the CQ Helicopter Rescue.
